Marisol spent nine years running concrete and shotcrete crews on commercial jobs before founding Blue Agave in 2009, in the middle of a housing crash, which she still calls the best timing she ever had: the only clients then were careful ones, and the only builders left were good ones.
The studio is deliberately small. About eighteen projects a year, three field crews on payroll, and the same tile setter since 2011 and the same electrician for over a decade. Marisol walks every active site weekly and reviews every design that leaves the studio. Growth past that would mean managing builders instead of building, and she is not interested.
What design-build means here
One contract, one schedule, one throat to choke. The person who draws your pool prices it, and the company that prices it builds it. When something goes wrong, and on a fourteen-week outdoor construction project something eventually does, there is no subcontractor triangle to disappear into. The change-order rule is house law: priced in writing before the work happens, or we absorb it.
