A-108 · Coverage

Forty minutes from Choctaw Drive.

We keep the radius tight because a design-build job brings us back two or three times before it is signed off, and because a maintenance client in August deserves to be reached the same day. Outside these areas we will still take the call and tell you honestly whether we are the right people.

01

Baton Rouge

0–20 min

Most of our work is inside the city, and most of that is post-war housing stock between Mid City and Sherwood Forest. Slab construction, original ducts run through vented attics, and additions from the seventies that were never brought into the calculation when the equipment was last replaced.

The recurring pattern here is a sunroom or a converted carport hanging off a system that was never resized for it. That room is always the complaint, and the fix is usually a branch resize rather than the new condenser people have been quoted.

Common here Original 1960s trunk in the attic, undersized return, one room eight degrees out.

02

Prairieville & Gonzales

20–35 min

Newer subdivisions off Airline and along Highway 42, mostly built between 1998 and 2015. The building envelopes are considerably better than in town, which means the loads are smaller, which means the systems that got installed are more likely to be oversized rather than undersized.

That shows up as the humidity complaint. Houses out here reach temperature easily and stay damp, and the honest answer is usually blower commissioning and duct sealing rather than equipment. We have talked a lot of Ascension Parish homeowners out of a purchase they had already decided on.

Common here Oversized by half to a full ton, nine-minute cycles, 60–65% indoor humidity in August.

03

Zachary, Central & Denham Springs

25–40 min

A wider mix: older homes on larger lots, plus a lot of post-2016 rebuilding after the flood. The rebuilt houses are interesting to us because the envelope changed completely and the mechanical system frequently did not. A house that was dried out, re-insulated and re-sheetrocked has a materially different load than the one the old equipment was chosen for.

If you rebuilt after 2016 and kept the outdoor unit, a calculation is worth doing before the equipment forces the question. In several of these houses the correct system has turned out to be a full ton smaller.

Common here Post-flood rebuild with the pre-flood system, plus long duct runs in generous attics.
